Re-pollard of ash tree. Tree currently stands at approximately 70 foot tall. Upward/outward growth measuring approx. 15-18 feet needs to be taken off back to the site of previous pollard. Ash will stand at approx 40-55 feet tall after re-pollarding (bearing in mind some main limbs lower on tree than others) Tree has a TPO on it. Re-pollarding to reduce size of what is a very large tree in a relatively small garden, eliminate overhang on neighbouring properties and maintain health of tree over time. David Whittle of the Council has been out to inspect and given authorisation to put in planning app.

T1 - Oak The oak tree is a large, mature specimen approximately 22 m in height, with an overall crown spread of around 8 m on the southern aspect. The tree previously lost its main central stem, and a substantial amount of subsequent regrowth has developed over the property. This regrowth now forms the dominant crown structure on the southern side. I am applying to reduce the overall height of the tree by approximately 4 m (from 22 m to around 18 m) and to reduce the southern crown spread by approximately 4 m ( from 8 m to 4 m). This will retain an even, balanced crown with an approximate 4 m overhang onto my garden. Reasons for the proposed works: Management of historic structural defects: The historic loss of the central stem has resulted in asymmetric regrowth now extending over the property. Reduction will help manage loading on these secondary limbs, reducing the risk of structural failure and improving long-term crown stability. Improvement of light levels to the property and garden: The current canopy significantly shades the southern side of the house and garden throughout the day. A modest reduction will allow more natural light into the living areas and garden without harming the character or amenity value of the tree. Reduction of excessive canopy dominance: The tree???s current height and spread create considerable overhang onto the property, limiting the reasonable use of the garden and causing a heavy build-up of leaf litter and debris. General tree health and maintenance: A sensitive reduction will help to maintain the tree in a safe, manageable condition, supporting its long-term retention while reducing the likelihood of limb failure associated with earlier storm damage and uneven regrowth. Preservation of amenity value: The works proposed are modest, proportionate, and intended to retain the tree???s form and amenity value. The objective is to manage size and structural imbalance???not to remove or drastically alter the appearance of the...
